TableSathi vs RestroX: which is better for your restaurant?

RestroX is the best-known restaurant software in Nepal; TableSathi is the one built around IRD filing, printing that just works, and the phone in your waiter’s hand. Here is how they compare on price, printing, IRD and CBMS, customers and support — from both companies’ published pages.

The short version

For a cafe or restaurant that wants its bills right with the IRD, its kitchen tickets printing every time, and staff working from their own phones, TableSathi does more in its cheapest plan than RestroX does in its: the kitchen display, unlimited customer records, notifications and a public cafe page are all in Basic. It is enlisted with the IRD under its own enlistment number and files every bill to CBMS, renews at the same price every year, and moves your data over from your old system for free.

RestroX starts cheaper and has a free plan. The question is what you get for the difference.

Where TableSathi is ahead

Each of these is something TableSathi does today, in every plan unless marked.

  • IRD enlisted, number 8301671 — and files invoices and credit notes to CBMS, the IRD’s real-time billing system
  • Printing that does not need the cafe Wi-Fi: a waiter on mobile data sends an order and the KOT still prints in the kitchen, because orders reach the printer through the cloud
  • Kitchen tickets go to the right station — KOT to the kitchen, BOT to the bar — and a void slip prints when an item is cancelled
  • Notifications on the phone: the kitchen hears about new orders, the floor hears when food is ready, and the owner hears when stock runs low
  • Customer records with no cap — visits, total spend, last visit, and the buyer’s PAN and address for a proper VAT tax invoice
  • Every device: the Android app, and iPhone, iPad, PC or Mac through the browser — installable like an app, nothing to buy
  • Built for the phone first: every screen works one-handed on a waiter’s phone, not just on the counter computer
  • Free data migration — the team moves your menu and records over from your old system
  • Same price at renewal, and a 15-day free trial
  • A thermal printer from us at Rs 12,000, or use the one you already have

Features side by side

Both take orders, print KOTs and BOTs, and produce PAN/VAT bills. The difference is in how much of it comes in the plan you can afford, and how it behaves on a busy night.

IRD and CBMS

RestroX’s site says “IRD Approved Billing”; we did not find CBMS mentioned anywhere on it. TableSathi is enlisted under the Electronic Billing Procedure 2074 with enlistment number 8301671, which you can check with the Inland Revenue Department, and it files invoices and credit notes to CBMS as they are issued.

Below the turnover threshold where CBMS becomes compulsory, a correctly numbered PAN or VAT bill is what counts — and TableSathi numbers every bill by fiscal year with Bikram Sambat dates. Above it, ask any vendor for the enlistment number and whether they actually file.

Switching from RestroX

Switching is the part owners dread, so we do it for you, free. The team moves your menu and records across from your old system, sets up your staff accounts, and connects your printers — yours, or one from us at Rs 12,000. Try it for 15 days first. Keep an export of the bills your old system already issued, for your accounts; new bills are numbered by TableSathi from the day you switch.

When RestroX may suit you better

If you need online delivery orders and loyalty points, or a free plan to start with, RestroX offers those and TableSathi does not. For everything that happens inside the cafe — orders, the kitchen, the bill and the IRD — TableSathi gives you more in every plan.

Questions

Common questions.

Is TableSathi better than RestroX?+

For a cafe or restaurant that cares about IRD compliance and a smooth floor, usually yes. TableSathi is IRD enlisted (number 8301671) and files to CBMS; its entry plan includes the kitchen display, notifications and unlimited customer records, which RestroX caps at 30 on Basic; kitchen tickets print even when a waiter is on mobile data; it renews at the same price; and the team migrates your data for free. It runs on any phone, tablet or computer, Android or iPhone. RestroX is cheaper at the entry level, has a free plan and delivery and loyalty features.

Is TableSathi cheaper than RestroX?+

At the entry level RestroX is cheaper on paper: Rs 12,000 a year against TableSathi Basic at Rs 14,999 — but TableSathi Basic includes the kitchen display, notifications and unlimited customer records. With inventory TableSathi is cheaper: Standard is Rs 22,999 a year against RestroX Premium at Rs 24,000. TableSathi renews at the same price, its thermal printer is Rs 12,000 against RestroX’s Rs 12,500, and moving your data over is free.

Does RestroX file to CBMS?+

RestroX’s website says “IRD Approved Billing”, but we did not find CBMS mentioned on its site when we checked on 6 October 2026. Ask RestroX directly for their enlistment number and whether they file. TableSathi is enlisted under number 8301671 and files invoices and credit notes to CBMS, set up per cafe with your own IRD credentials.

Do the waiter’s phone and the printer need to be on the same Wi-Fi?+

Not with TableSathi. Orders go to TableSathi in the cloud and a small print agent on the cafe computer collects them and prints, so a waiter can take an order on mobile data and the KOT still prints in the kitchen. The printer just needs to be connected to that computer, over USB or the local network.

Can I move from RestroX to TableSathi?+

Yes, and the migration is free. Write to [email protected]: the team moves your menu and records from your old system, sets up your staff accounts and printers, and you get 15 days to try it. Keep an export of the bills your old system already issued for your accounts.
